The western media and political class is experiencing a fake come to Jesus moment over Gaza now the horror is too obvious to be denied. But their words are not genuine expressions of grief, anger or shock. They are carefully calibrated PR missives designed to obfuscate their culpability for war crimes now we’ve reached the end stage of a holocaust. A holocaust that for 21 months has been openly declared and therefore entirely preventable.
The Nazis didn't begin with gas chambers.
The Zionists didn't begin with mass starvation.
Rabidly genocidal statements have been emanating from the mouths of Israeli politicians for 21 months, and for 21 months these statements have been translated into genocidal actions by the Israeli military. That’s how the psychology of a holocaust works. Dehumanising statements made repetitively are designed to create a self-reinforcing genocidal mentality that leads to the frictionless industrial slaughter of other human beings. The statements are too numerous to list. In October 2023 Netanyahu said ‘Amalek’ (a reference to Israel’s enemies in the Old Testament) must be wiped out. Israel’s defence minister at the time Yoav Gallant said Palestinians are human animals. In January 2024, Israel’s heritage minister Amichai Eliyau said that Israel ‘must find ways more painful than death’ to inflict suffering on the Palestinians.
We’ve seen in high definition literally every type of war crime that exists in the war crimes directory. We’ve witnessed every flavour of horrifically unspeakable violence against civilians imaginable. To pretend that only now something bad is happening, as these statements from Starmer to Hillary Clinton to Macron seem to suggest, is disgusting and repulsive, itself a grotesque form of genocidal denial. Nearly a year ago Israel’s finance minister said that Israel wanted to do exactly what it is now doing. The campaign of mass starvation was planned a long time ago, and has been executed with textbook genocidal intent.
The road to a final solution is lined with escalatory actions and rhetoric. And at every stage our governments have defended, encouraged and funded, the holocaust of an entire people.
Speaking up only when it’s undeniable, only when the horror has become evident and overwhelming, isn't moral courage, it's moral cowardice. And it was the silence in the face of kids being bombed, beheaded, split in half, liquified, maimed and orphaned for 21 months that enabled kids finally to be starved to death.
We need to be exceedingly clear: the project of enforced mass starvation is a western project. Israel is the tip of the spear, but behind that spear sits the hand of the west.
In January 2024, on the basis of Israeli claims that twelve UNRWA employees out of 30,000 in Gaza might be Hamas (later revised down to just four), the US, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Romania and others stopped funding UNRWA, the main UN agency controlling aid distribution in Gaza. Some later restarted their funding, but not America. An America that would, for another year, be led by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the mythical good guys.
De-legitimatising the UN aid model in this way, allowing the western media to run with ‘UNWRA is Hamas stories,’ failing to speak up in defence of UNRWA, directly paved the way for Israel's final solution in Gaza.
Israel’s goal all along was to replace the UN aid system and turn aid distribution into another cog in the machinery of genocide. The killing zones run by the IDF and American mercenaries under the guise of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation are working precisely as intended. A real life Squid Games, mass murder as entertainment, genocide as sport. Exculpatory statements of shock and horror now can never wash away the stains.
The 'UNRWA is Hamas' propaganda, like the beheaded babies hoax, like the mass rape hoax, like the lie that Hamas killed 1400 civilians, was happily co-signed by the western political and media class. The mass starvation of somewhere in the region of 1.7 million people simply couldn't happen without a broad caucus of western support.
Yesterday Israel said it would allow countries to air drop aid. This can't possibly work to avert a stage 5 famine. This stage of famine requires specialist care and refeeding experts. Organs experiencing starvation are not able to process and digest normal amounts of food. At this stage of famine, stage 5, as hundreds of thousands now are, food itself will kill you. If countries go through with this there will also inevitably be stampedes and trampling deaths. And Israel will make sure to position itself at the site of the aid drops to mow down starving people.
The shame of it all. And the shame of letting the fascists doing the holocaust determine the response to the holocaust. Air dropping aid will merely provide cover for the holocaust to move to completion while allowing governments to feel like good humanitarians and say that they tried.
We are living at a decisive, historic and dangerous moment.
Israel and the west have shattered the international legal system.
Do we really understand what this means?
Do we understand what it means that the Geneva Conventions have failed?
Do we understand that the UN system set up after the Nazi holocaust has collapsed in on itself?
Still now, as skeletal babies die in their mothers arms, as famine experts declare much of Gaza exists at an irreversible stage of hunger, the UN, dominated by the power of the US veto, refuses to declare a famine.
We need new institutions, new legal treaties, new mechanisms for action.
The US must be stripped of its veto power and we must urgently undertake the de-Zionisation of political and other systems.
Because that’s what did this.
Western fealty to Israel, embedded within our politics, from the right to the left, did this. Entrenched fealty within western media organisations, within our culture, a culture that cancels pro-Palestine musicians, did this. An unquestioning deference to Israel, submission to the demands of mainstream Jewish groups, and the regurgitation and reproduction of Israeli propaganda by western politicians and media outlets. That’s what did this.
Zionists and the proxies for Israel, the enablers of a holocaust in our time, a holocaust that will echo until the end of time, must be rooted out from our legal, political, religious and cultural institutions. Many of them, if international law returns to have any meaning, will face war crimes tribunals. From Biden to Trump to Starmer to Scholz to Merz.
The holocaust of Gaza should upend the international system like the Nazi holocaust did. For a future in which violent impunity isn’t allowed to dominate our world, for a future where guardrails against the industrialised slaughter of civilians exist, the last 21 months must trigger the remaking of the global legal and peacekeeping system. And this time it needs to be done properly. What to do about Israel and how to respond to a holocaust should now be at the centre of our politics in the same way that the future of Germany and how to reshape international institutions was the central political issue after the Nazi holocaust.
For the next decade, every politician who wants our vote needs to be asked the same question: do you condemn Israel's genocide of Gaza and what will you do to ensure nothing like it ever happens again?
Because as the full import of Israel's actions becomes clear, the weaponisation of antisemitism is going to ramp up to hysterical, unprecedented levels. To get justice for this holocaust we're going to need people who will be able to answer this question simply and with conviction. We’re going to need people able to reframe the debate about Israel and Zionism in the proper terms.
Hopefully the new left party in the UK being set up by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana will be up to the job. Hopefully they will have learnt from Corbyn’s time leading the Labour Party. After the last 21 months, no inch should be given to antisemitism slurs intended only to cover for Israel’s crimes. Israel and their apologists must be confronted forcefully and without fear. No apologies, no attempts to appease the mainstream Jewish lobby and holocaust enablers. No more lip service to an unviable and unreachable ‘two-state solution.’ Victims of a holocaust should not be expected to live alongside the perpetrators of that holocaust, alongside their nuclear-armed oppressor. Politicians and journalists on the left should begin normalising the idea of a one-state solution and the dissolution of Israel.
Supporting Israel now should be equivalent to supporting the continuation and rehabilitation of the Third Reich in 1945.
To restore our humanity and for any hope of a half-decent future, the world needs to be de-Zionised. And the process must begin urgently.
Thank you for this. Now that they are finally admitting that Israel is starving people, maybe in another couple of years, they will admit that Israel should no longer exist.
"Anything we don't like at the moment is Hamas!"
