Something that strikes me about the people saying "humanity has survived worse" is how far removed from the situation they have to be placing themselves.
When humanity "survives" a situation, it usually means some pretty bleak stuff happened, and a lot of people died, so those people commenting that seem to feel removed from the fact that they may be part of the death of humanity "surviving."
Something tells me if they were having to hide in a bunker with their family or friends (or even by themselves) hearing shells explode all around them with constant death and destruction, they would feel quite differently and would not say such things.
Those who feel safe from what is barreling down on us may not hear
bombs and sirens, however will most likely be badly impacted by supply chain problems - not only their favorite foods, goods and conveniences but also basic food, medications, medical care, gasoline, heating oil, jobs, electricity & internet. They are most likely denying the upcoming Bird Flu pandemic (it's now only a matter of a very few mutations) and continuing climate change catastrophes. On Maui I've lived through the unprecedented impact of deadly fires and storms.
This "worse of humanity" may not be some dramatic end point, but rather a perpetual inexorable demise.

Last week I was upset about their decision to release some of the reserves of “winter gas” here like they did in 2022 & that is supposed to happen May 1st.
Humanity in the collective may have survived, but a lot of individual, flesh-and-blood humans did not. People who philosophize about the *idea* of humanity while ignoring the real-life suffering of millions are frauds.

If by the real world you mean observable truth - historical materialism - then social democracy has repeatedly shown that it cannot defeat fascism and in fact leads to fascism if revolution does not intervene. I could point you towards further reading if you like. Millions of people of people in the US and across the world have realised that we cannot carry on with the futile task of entrusting power to The Democrats and like-minded parties around the world who have enabled fascism and offer no way out.

I am worried about drug shortages too. Estrogen patches and adderall right now specifically because those are the ones I know about, but a pharmaceutical warehouse got bombed this week already.
Re helium for MRI machines, I can’t recall when it happened, but at some point within the past five years the United States government sold property that contained one of our two helium sources. I just tried to look for the link to the auction but I don’t have it anymore. Great.
I grow sprouts from seeds and I just obtained a tofu press and a bunch of organic soy beans so I can make my own tofu with just beans and lemon juice or vinegar. But of course none of that will help me if I can’t get sprouting seeds and soy beans. I have a bidet in case we run out of toilet paper again. I am disabled so at least I don’t have to drive to work, but if meds can’t get to the pharmacy and I can’t get them I won’t make it too long & I know there are many people in more precarious situations than me.

It's intuitive to think that if all else fails, we could subsistence farm. That's true only if most of the people currently alive are no longer alive. I've heard it said that half of the nitrogen in our bodies comes from the Haber-Bosch process of creating fertilizer using fossil fuels.

This is emphatically NOT correct… Iran, on behalf of the Rebel Alliance, has effectively created a ‘toll gate’ through Hormuz… It only allows shipping to pass through that will ‘pay the toll’… The announced terms of 'the toll’ are that all oil, and other essential goods, passing through the Strait must be evaluated (priced) in the Chinese Yuan, and NOT in the US dollar…
This is the death knell for what is called the ‘petro-dollar’, and with its death will come the total collapse of the US Dollar as the world’s ‘reserve currency’… The Jewish-dominated US-Israel Empire will then no longer be able to sell its treasury bonds… It will no longer be able to finance its exploding debt… It will be forced into default... Mr. Klarenberg’s report here contains a crucial error, however, when he writes (paraphrasing) that “all maritime traffic through Hormuz has been brought to a standstill”. This is emphatically NOT correct… Iran, on behalf of the Rebel Alliance, has effectively created a ‘toll gate’ through Hormuz… It only allows shipping to pass through that will ‘pay the toll’… The announced terms of 'the toll’ are that all oil, and other essential goods, passing through the Strait must be evaluated (priced) in the Chinese Yuan, and NOT in the US dollar…
This is the death knell for what is called the ‘petro-dollar’, and with its death will come the total collapse of the US Dollar as the world’s ‘reserve currency’… The Jewish-dominated US-Israel Empire will then no longer be able to sell its treasury bonds… It will no longer be able to finance its exploding debt… It will be forced into default...
