My article about Greta Thunberg created a bit of stir on Twitter especially amongst liberals who couldn’t bear to be confronted with their depraved politics and gutter morality.
I gave up on legacy media a long time ago. Even the Guardian has adopted a more conciliatory slant these days -- conciliatory to the centre-right, that is. We can expect more of the same everywhere as legacy media fall into the clutches of right-wing moguls. I wonder how long it'll be before George Monbiot throws up his hands and quits.
Now that Trump has been denied his Nobel Peace Prize, I doubt he'll remain invested in Gaza unless he can literally invest in Gaza as real estate for his own benefit. Similarly, the Netanyahu government cannot and should not be trusted. I've no faith that the ceasefire will hold.
Skilled writing and factual content is so rare these days, especially for the subjects you write about. Thank you for your work and your efforts to help inform people of truths often hidden or glossed over.
I know this isn't about The Smiths per se, but Morrissey usefully claims that those who "rain abuse" on Israel do so because they're / we're "jealous" of it.
Agree with much in the article. Obvs Nat&yahoo is a monster, but so were most Israeli PMs (Begin was an Irgun terrorist). The Israeli objective is to control & bully the neighbouring states & erode their borders. Few murders here or there, funky stuff with pagers etc – keeps the arabs in line.
The current peace deal will reduce murders of palestinians by jewish-israelis (well it ain’t arab-israelis doing it) for a while, but Israel will continue to beat the Palestinian dog & at some point it will react – providing the excuse Israeli-jews need for more large-scale murders. The idea that somewhere there is a sizeable body of “reasonable” (?) Israeli-jews that want to live in peace with their neighbours is a myth, proved by circa 70 years of quasi non-stop Israeli war with its neighbours.
Furthermore, the entire Israeli-jewish educational system aims to other non-jews and cast them as either slaves of jews or as terrorists (& thus worthy of extermination). This is the PoV of Israel’s Chief Rabbi (2000s) & he is on record as saying this. Something similar wrt education happens in Saudi Arabia wrt non-muslims, North Korea (wrt all) and Russia (wrt Ukraine) – so its not like Israel is the only one grooming its population to hates others & want to kill them. However, it is unique in pretending it is somehow civilised and a democracy. It is neither, just another ghastly genocidal state hiding behind an imbecilic & barbarous religion used to justify its acts. Israel is guilty of hubris. But Nemesis always follows hubris without fail. The Israeli jews will discover this reality, hopefully sooner rather than later. Hubris is also associated with pride. Bertrand Russell observed that “Christians tried to practise Christian humility, but the jews in general did not”.

Sadly the ceasefire is already being violated. Rafah crossing is closed and aid trucks are dwindling to a trickle again. They are still bombing in Gaza city, and have intensified attacks in East Palestine.
