Thank you Nate. I belong to a group of craftspeople who weave on looms here in North Carolina, USA. We weave in a poorly ventilated old cabin in the woods. I explained about covid, made C-R boxes, wore a mask. Nobody cared. They think it's over. Some of them have had short term memory problems and said it was stress. One of them has a permanent cough that isn't from allergies. Another had a cough for a while, and tried to hide it. Another has clear signs of gluten sensitivity and given the information about what that causes, doesn't try cutting out gluten. These are intelligent people with years of life experience. I feel discouraged, to say the least, and, not liking my head in the sand, am emotionally as ready for the next pandemic as possible. I thank God every day that my husband is on board with all of this. Thank you again, everything you put in this piece is spot on, as usual. It's refreshing.
I watched the video of Mr Vedder talking about his recent illness. It was while he was onstage at his latest concert. Granted I’m sure that he is under contract to perform and concerts are the way he makes a living, but the disconnect between him talking about his near death illness and realization that life is precious while people are jammed in shoulder to shoulder singing along with him without mitigations is astounding to me. Does he know the virus is airborne and that at least some people will catch Covid at his concerts, possibly leading to them having near death experiences as well?
Do you think they will actually be scrutinized though? Or will people just suffer because the medical community will pretend it’s not happening?
I am in the US and I had to be admitted to the hospital a couple days last month at no point did they test me for norovirus or Covid even though I was there for extreme GI issues.
When I asked if they might want to test me for norovirus because it’s high in the wastewater, I was told they don’t test for that because there’s nothing they could do about it. I told them if I know I have something contagious I can prevent spreading it so isn’t that worth it? They did not agree.
I don’t think they’re going to scrutinize anything. I think they’re going to continue to deny, ignore, and gaslight
Oh thank you for that, I forgot that there will be scientists who will do their thing regardless of what the blue king wants.
Edited to add, you’re right, and only we can save ourselves and each other
I became disabled by MECFS back in 2012, it took until 2019 to get a diagnosis, but once I did I pretty quickly found a group of people talking about low-dose naltrexone. I started taking it in 2020 and it changed my life. I’m still disabled but I don’t need a nap every day and I have more usable hours which is amazing.
If not for other sick people talking about what worked for them on the Internet I might not be alive today. I was pretty close to being done with just lying in bed all the time unable to sleep and unable to get up.
I really hope you’re right about this. But it feels very much like people can only see five feet in front of them as far as any future impacts of a dangerous virus like SARS-COV-2, especially if they “get over” the acute infection with relative ease. The real denial is that of repeat infections and the neurological, vascular, endothelial, and gastrointestinal damage that will come. I speak from experience, though I’ve only had the virus once.
Also immune system. It’d be awful but unsurprising if immune disorders of all kinds, the various types of arthritis, giant cell arteritis, polymyalgia and others have already begun to increase in incidence.
COVID is culling some Tour de France cyclists but despite that Christian Vande Velde, Peacock's cycling color commentator asked Neilson Powless, "Why the mask?" as Neilson's team, EF Education, was masked during the pre-race sign-on. I so far have managed not to throw a brick through my monitor.
i think the Paris Olympics have great potential to drive home that this virus is so not over.
Two major incoherent candidates for U.S. President should showcase the need for serious mitigation of this rapidly mutating virus.
For weeks I have been the only masked grocery shopper. I'm expecting that situation to change soon.
Thank you for this. I'm reading this as I'm recovering from a covid I am pretty sure I caught at the office. I do not remember a winter (I'm in the southern hemisphere) where so many people have been so sick at my workplace. We're encouraged by the government to isolate for 5 days. I did not return until I had a negative RAT test which took 14 days (I have the privilege of being able to work from home).
The woman who sits beside me had been sick. I told her I thought she's had covid and she got angry said there's lots of viruses about and she refuses to test for everything. I sent an email to the office manager asking her to remind people to stay home when sick. I've not even got a reply. But I shouldn't be suprised. This is the same office manager that got rid of our hired air filters in our poorly ventilated office.
I think you’re right that his having had COVID could be a contributing factor, though to have cognitive decline of his variety (mixing up words/names, mostly) is not all that uncommon for 81.
Now if we want to talk about the kind of cognitive decline that is non-sensical gibberish, we should be talking about Trump. Also possible that COVID affected his brain.
I agree that cognitive decline is normal for his age, however the reports that his decline has accelerated in the past 6 months to year, makes believe his Covid infections are a contributing factor and his latest "cold" may be symptoms of Long Covid. My Mom is same age and has diabetes and I have been warning her about Covid for years, and she has had it twice, and now all of her symptoms are suddenly accelerating/declining - which makes me believe her Covid is also accelerating her issues. And with Trump, I am sure he has had Covid a few times now and absolutely has accelerated his mental decline (and dementia runs in his family). I also think this mental decline is happening on a mass level - the science now noting IQ decrease even from "mild" infection. It's the mass "dumbing" of society.
Nate gets credit for his June 28 post - Biden's poor performance isn't just consistent with long Covid, it's consistent with yet another round of current acute Covid:
Nate: "First off he had a ‘cold’ we’re told. He was coughing a couple of minutes in. Could very well have been covid. Probably was."
Heh heh - welcome to the club! I'm kind of new too - I've been casually following Nate for a little while, but the June 28 post is what pushed me over into paid subscriber territory. Man, is this story important! And no coverage anywhere.
thanks! I've been following Jessica Wildfire and have seen Nate before, but happy to now also be following Nate! Totally agree - no coverage anywhere... but that is because they can't admit the truth about Covid!!!! Very sad and extremely frustrating!!!
I hope you’re right and that this continues. Maybe it means we are finally entering the Contemplation stage of change - the time when denial starts cracking and when people start realizing it might be necessary to do something different. I feel like it will take a lot longer than any of us will want for a critical mass of people to actually commit to that change and demand it, but continuing to talk about it, wearing masks, and doing things that keep COVID in the public discourse will hopefully keep moving that needle.
I’m just as disgusted by the last president as everyone else, but this current president is the one who normalized forever Covid infections.
At least when we had the last guy the political party who pretended to care about other people resisted spreading Covid. As soon as their Blue King was elected, it was Covid for everyone, every month, all the time.
A president is not a king or an arbiter of manners. Neither are former presidents, governors or mayors (and some of them were faster than this president at unmasking). 66+% of the population normalized forever Covid infections.
And yeah, I do not understand why the political parties suddenly decided to agree on Covid given they can't agree on anything else. Or to be honest, I do understand, I just think it's ridiculous. One can give license to people behaving badly while still publicly recommending masking. The vaccine was not a cure-all. And 90% of the population isn't working in an office with good ventilation, filtration, and periodic Covid checks. So our politicians and CEOs shouldn't be pretending that their status quo is ours.

excellent point
It will be interesting to scrutinise the incidence of immune disorders of all kinds in the years after COVID’s arrival.
Do you think they will actually be scrutinized though? Or will people just suffer because the medical community will pretend it’s not happening?

The media sure won’t scrutinise it, but epidemiologists will and it’ll be up to people like us to disseminate that.
Oh thank you for that, I forgot that there will be scientists who will do their thing regardless of what the blue king wants.

Also, seems pretty obvious to me that Biden's cognitive decline is consistent with Long Covid, but they will never admit it!

Thanks! I missed that post as I just started following Nate on this post.

& his ‘administration began selling out Americans out of pure Greed ..
I ain’t ‘morose or nothin.. bein ‘informed at ‘deep levels ‘impresses me mightily.. now why would that be ?

Has it occurred to anyone that ‘the Authorities ‘close unsanitary restaurants ?
May ‘Convict & Imprison people for Medical or Legal Malpractice or Drunk Driving ?
Or the ‘crime of smoking weed ? Sometimes even Raping Co-Ed’s at University ?
I now maintain that if Covid had ‘unpleasant facial ie ‘complexion consequences
the Entire Population would get behind Filtration in Any Public Transit System

MSM might finally be waking up! "Risk of cognitive impairment following a COVID infection"

Granted, it's in the next-to-last paragraph. But that still counts as infinitely better than zero mention whatsoever.
