What depresses me is the fact that the countries that are having their teams treated so despicably by the US empire, should be withdrawing from the competition but instead allow their citizens to be humiliated and treated like criminals. A shame on these governments, they are collaborating with the US racist regime!

The players could walk.

Why isn’t everyone boycotting FIFA, including the teams themselves? To keep it status quo is accepting the racism and violence of the US.

Yes, the teams need to refuse to play in the US. Play in Canada and Mexico, but not in the US.

And why has the International Olympic Committee not changed venues for the '28 games or simply cancelled them? (Sadly that is a rhetorical question.)

And to Andrea's comment above, walkouts work. The University of Missouri (my uni) football team demanded that the university's Chancellor and President resign or else they would not play. They played, the administrators resigned.

So, what does anyone propose to do about it?

I ask this over and over, because moral arguments are wasted on sociopaths.

Some personal history follows:

I played for my high school football (soccer) team over my sophomore through senior years, 1969 - 1971. Those were the first three years that interscholastic football competition took place in Kansas City, Missouri. (KC was way behind St. Louis, Mo which was a football hotbed in this decaying empire.) Those were the only years I played organized football. I had enough talent to play in college, but that would require attending one. I did not. (Did later in life.)

Athletics saved my life. I started running in my mid twenties and quickly surpassed the form that I had when I set my high school 2 mile record. I ended up being a triathlete. A careless motorist hitting me head on while I was out on a training ride ended my triathlon days. But after a few years of arduous recovery I could race a bike.

So biking is my love, but I still appreciate the beauty of a football match.

After surviving three more encounters with massive mobile metal objects and still miraculously able to send it on pedals I switched to mountain biking since the autos were parked at the trail head and not moving on the trails.

So a few days ago I missed seeing a deep depression in the trail due to bad visibility. That had consequences: sutures, abrasions, surfacing bruises, and a sling for my left arm.

Recovery at 73 is a bit slower than 33. Bringing me back from yet another hospital appointment yesterday my wife remarked how the upcoming Tour de France and the FIFA World Cup would help keep me entertained.

I told her that I would not watch a minute of the World Cup as FIFA should never selected our immoral country to host. I said a bit more, but I will forward Nate's article to her and the rest of my family to clarify the reasons for my stance.
