but in terms of "oppose it" - many of us opposed the genocide in gaza, & aside from our ongoing meager weekly donations (in my case to individuals & families) our opposition has made not a whit of difference, big-picture-wise. we were also mocked & condescended to in the last US election for not voting for the genocidaires.
yes, we oppose this evil. but i'm afraid that - this time round - i have negative zero confidence that my time will be well-spent writing to my political representatives.
I'm from the UK and this all resonates with me too. I'm trying to really put in effort with local activism recently, but it feels so small and piddly in the face of such overwhelming evil. Individuals and families in Gaza have appreciated my donations and I am thankful of that (and it has provided me with some meaningful conversations with beautiful, interesting human beings) but I feel we're all too scared, passive and cowed to do what we actually need to do. Maybe not enough of us relatively unindoctrinated either...
I understand why some people don't think writing to their reps is worth it, but there are other ways of exerting pressure. Imagine and act. I personally am not prepared to admit defeat to these scumbags however bad it gets

I woke up in the middle of the night wondering how in God's name are the Iranian people surviving this? What can they do? How long will this oil rain last? How many have already died from the fumes? The US and Israel are serial killers on another spree...May it be their last....May Iran prevail...
Thanks for the informative update, Mr. Bear. I'm totally okay with a solid journalistic thrashing of our own Christian Nationalist government & the Zionist leadership of Israel. No one with their eyes & ears open can deny the naked aggression & evil. On the other hand, I sincerely appreciate you not lecturing us further as to how old & glorious Persian culture is and how superior the former Ayatollah was in intellect compared to our own Killer-In-Chief. To Hell with both those AssHats and their conspirators! Yeah, our side instigated this latest atrocity and our leadership is loathsome, but any historian worth their salt knows that Persia / Iran has been guilty of many atrocities of their own over the millenia. I don't believe in Karma though, and two wrongs never make a right, so I'm very sorry to witness this slaughter of the good Iranian people and the poisoning of their environment. Really, though, who's surprised that Judaism, Christianity & Islam have brought us all to the brink of WW3 with their equally sanctimonius & self-righteous contempt of one another owing to their common metaphysical myths? Did any of you honestly expect anything less than an eventual, self-fulfilling mutually assured destruction? I'm not surprised at all, and I don't expect this situation will ever get any better. I don't think cooler heads will ever prevail. The numbers are not there. So no need to be shocked by any of this. The writing has been on the wall for ages.
