Nate, you hit the nail on the head. What kind of mad world do we honestly live in where something like the nuclear bomb is even ALLOWED to exist? And what's scarier is that a country like Israel (who is actively committing genocide against the Palestinians) has nuclear weapons (although israel is ambiguous about it, it neither confirms or denies that it has those weapons, though they 100% do have it). this is all the end result of nationalism and the modern nation-state.

Whatever Netanyahu unleashes, it will likely involve the US. In retaliation, Iran doesn't rule out hitting Bahrain, or some other petrostate where the US has a presence. And of course, the US has a master statesman in charge who will do his utmost to calm the situation /s. Russia will come to Iran's aid and we're off to the races.

I agree.

Unfortunately the psychopathic demons with the nukes don't care what we think.

I made the mistake of listening to Dead Ringers last night, a 'comedy' sketch show on BBC Radio 4 which generally consists of a series of unfunny cheap 'laughs'. The opening sketch was Greta coming to the aid of Rachel Reeves in the Commons, bringing a 'negligible amount of aid' along with 'bad publicity' and a promise to 'make things worse'. It seemed totally misjudged to me and the fact that even satirists are mocking resistance to Israel exposes the extent to which the British public are being exposed to absolute bilge and propaganda through the MSM. Virtually everyone in our establishment, from top to bottom, is complicit and dripping in blood. Of course the audience guffawed along from the safety of a Radio 4 studio, as far as I'm concerned they're complicit too.

"Genocide is ecocide, and vice versa. They are logically inseparable."

been shouting this from the rooftops from day 1 of the gaza genocide. yet the vast majority of climate/collapse folks i've followed for years have totally tuned the genocide out. it's a "single issue," doncha know.

i'm still working on making sense of their disinterest, & coming to terms with it.

I literally read this piece a couple hours before Israel attacked Iran. Sigh.

You are so right, genocide = ecocide and vice versa! I grew up during the Cold War and actually saw the Berlin Wall before it was torn down, so I know what the constant fear of nuclear war feels like. I have to say, however, I didn’t realize how much I’d forgotten that feeling until I read your article and your discussion of nuclear winter. It was a sobering reminder of the existential dangers we are facing.

As far as launching on a whim -- there is a particular country that has used atomic bombs and has adherents of Dominion theology waiting in the wings to ascend to power who will be happy to short circuit Armaggedon,

Fortunately, Israeli ICBMs cannot reach North America..European capitals, however 🤷‍♂️

That said, Iran doesn't need nuclear warheads to paste Israel from end to end with highly-enriched "dirty bombs". Iran can survive the exchange, Israel cannot.
