The only reason why the West (both the US + the UK) obsesses over violent regime changes is because it wants to destabilize Iran even further (keep in mind that the US, via the CIA deposed Mossadegh in 1952/1953 because he nationalized Iranian oil and that was a big no-no for the US, so they put the Shah in charge).
And of course, the West loves to back religious and military dictatorships because they're on "our side."
But the imperial boomerang always comes home to roost, doesn't it? the so-called "moral" west is locking up and disappearing people for peaceful protest and for speaking out against the genocide that's going on in Gaza.
This is all about access to oil and gas, period. With a helping of controlling a geographic choke point.
In my long ago youth, the US was the leading producer of fossil fuels. The foolish development of fracking technology is allowing our capitalists to take all of the relative little that is left from long gone days. Our capitalists want to take all from anywhere else.
I think that the notion of Israel controlling US foreign policy is incorrect. Israel is the leading recipient of US foreign aid and they reciprocate by committing atrocities on our behalf. Where indiscriminate mass murder gets committed, there is oil and gas beneath the bodies. Or at the very least, copious amounts of minerals our corporate overlords covet.
Our Dominion theology cheerleaders for Israeli aggression have miscalculated for this will be a battle of attrition as in Russia v. Ukraine and not the 7 day war of Israel's salad days. Both China and Russia have a lot at stake with Iran's existence. Iran is going to have far more capable and dependable allies for resupply than will Israel. A lot of what Israel will need is already smoldering in Ukraine.
So when wondering about moral suasion, the US is truly devoid. These shameful acts occurring at present like atrocities past can be attributed to a single source, the United States of America.
I see AIPAC as driving a positive feedback loop for generating profit, profit, profit for the US war machine. It is Prosperity Gospel in action! The tithe that has bounteous returns -- until now.
Every day I watch death arrive in numbers, twenty bodies before breakfast, fifty more by noon, a hundred before the sky darkens, and somehow, the count resets and begins again the next morning like it’s routine like this is just life now. I am twenty-five years old and already feel centuries old. I should be writing about the ordinary chaos of youth, about love that falters and cities that move too fast, but instead I write about a place where even the earth no longer wants to hold our dead. For more than two hundred days, I’ve watched my people die, bloated with hunger, turned to ash before they even learned to spell their names and I’ve had to stay alive through it. I’ve had to carry my son past mangled bodies and flattened homes, had to hold my wife’s hand while running barefoot through glass and bones, had to bury friends without knowing if I would ever be allowed to speak their names again, and I write because it’s the only thing that doesn’t rot when everything else around me does. But I’m exhausted, by how our pain has become global currency for people who have never even seen Gaza on a map but still feel entitled to narrate it, to frame it, to turn it into a prism through which they polish their theories, their brands and their movements. They romanticize our starvation, turn the dying of our babies into poetic slogans about resistance and legacy, but I want none of that, I want formula for our newborns, antibiotics for our elderly, shelter for our wounded, classrooms for our children, not metaphors, not manifestos. I don’t want to be a symbol of resilience anymore, I want to be a person who wakes up without wondering who I’ll lose today. I want to be a writer without having to prove my suffering as legitimacy. But the world doesn’t want us if we are not bleeding or brave. Our lives only fit into their narratives when we are extraordinary, when we are dying in ways that inspire TED talks and book deals and resolutions. The reality is they do not want us to live well, they just want us to die beautifully. And I am sick with the weight of it, with the lie of it, with the performance of global sympathy that folds us neatly into its analysis while never reserving even the smallest space for our actual survival. My trauma is not theory, it is breath and bone and nightmare and silence. I wake up gasping for air from knowing that my people’s destruction is more sustainable to the world than our freedom. And I’m twenty-five. And I don’t know how to carry this much history, this much grief, this much betrayal from a world that wants me to write, to speak, to tweet, to explain, while everything I love is being razed to dust. I am a writer. But I am also just a man who wants his son to live without being called a miracle just for surviving the day. Is that so unimaginable? I’ve been carrying the unbearable truth that this place, my home, is being emptied of breath and history and the world watches, speaks, debates, applauds, makes us perfect silhouettes and symbols and citations and then turns away again. Our babies gasping in silence, our mothers have no milk left in their breasts, our fathers broken under the weight of not being able to save them, our elderly die quietly because there is no medication and no electricity and no doctors left standing, the schools are gone and the hospitals are graveyards and the streets are bones and dust and memory, and I am already tired of being strong, I am tired of being exceptional, I am tired of being turned into a witness the world only listens to when our blood is fresh. They say we are brave and resilient, and that we carry the spirit of our ancestors and the struggle of the generations, but what if we don’t want to carry anything anymore? What if we just want to rest and live without being called heroes or used as headlines, only as people? What if we don’t want our trauma turned into a metaphor for resistance? I never asked to be a symbol. I wanted to be a writer, a father, a friend, someone who walks home without calculating the odds of being hit from above. I wanted to write about ordinary things like the way the sun touches the buildings in Gaza at 5pm or the stories my grandmother used to tell or how love moves between people even in small kitchens. But the world will only let us live if we are dying beautifully, if our corpses can teach something, if our pain can be folded into their politics. Our lives are useful to them only when they are ending. And I cannot carry that anymore. I cannot keep being a story that flatters someone else’s conscience. I don’t want my life to be a primetime debate.
They Just Don't Get It -- Americans are Violent Trash and Jews (most of them here) and ALL of them in Israel and Abroad as Firster's are Natural Born Murderers
Don’t conflate Jews with Israel and Zionists. Zionism isa choice, not an ethnicity. Your comment as written is hate speech, which helps Israel to call itself the victim.
As they say, Fuck Israel and Fuck Jews who support Israel, still, and fuck Jews who teach their kiddos that Israel is in the stars, the mothership, and fuck Jews who follow the Talmud and the supremacy of chosenness, and, well, a whole lotta choices to make, them Jews, those new Jews, those old Jews. Weaponize antisemitism all ya want, cuz the world just will keep battering down the walls of that hateful tribe.
Weaponizing antisemitism would be if I defended Israel by calling you racist. I’m not defending Israel.
What I am doing is a “call in” to separate your hatred for the actions of Israel from “the majority” of Jewish people.
Racism is similar to bad parenting. A bad parent will say that the child is bad. A good parent will say that the behavior is bad.
Racism is saying that behavior is in the blood. That it’s not a learned behavior or choice.
The fact is that Many Jewish people learned this supremacist behavior from what was done to them. Victor Frankle in his book “Man’s Search for Meaning.” was concerned that through trauma, Jewish people could become hateful and perpetuate violence. He was right.
It’s very similar to how a boy can grow up seeing his father beat his mother all the time hating his father. But then he can repeat the same behavior when he grows up.
It’s not an excuse for Jewish people who perpetuate violence, but it is an understanding that violence is often infectious and learned. It has nothing to do with ethnicity or race.
Are you a kindergarten teacher? Jewish values throughout time have been violent and usury and certainly way before the occupation of Palestine, Jews were happy to trade in slaves, happy to go from land to land, well, doing the Jewish thing. Racism? Jews are not a race. Or ethnic group.
Speaking of kindergarten, it sounds like you believe that the Torah is historically accurate. It’s a mythology book used to justify monotheism from when ancient Israelites split from Canaanites (who are the modern-day Palestinians by the way, so both ethnic groups are Semitic peoples).
But you seem very attached to your hatred for “the majority” of Jewish people, so I doubt anything I say will make you examine your chosen prejudices.
Torah or Talmud, that is the question. Jews will rewrite history for their lying history. Again. Jews pick what is kosher in those vile books.
Professor Norman Finkelstein, who is Jewish, says that Israel is a Jewish Supremacist state. They think they’re better, and that they should rule the world. But only Jews. Have a listen:
The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) has been furiously urging House Democrats to release messages of steadfast support for Israel in its war with Iran, the Prospect and Drop Site News have learned, even as bipartisan lawmakers come together on a War Powers Act resolution to prevent U.S. troops or funds being used in yet another Middle East conflagration.
One member relayed that a colleague had received literally 100 phone calls from members of AIPAC and its allied pressure groups. AIPAC wants House Democratic members to state explicitly that they “stand with Israel” in its actions against Iran aimed at destroying the Islamic Republic’s nuclear capability, and add that Iran “must never have a nuclear weapon.”
Zionism and the disgraceful, despicable, barbaric, and stupid behavior of the Jewish collective in the last 18 months have erected immense walls between Jews and humanity.
‘Let me solve a big great mystery for you. A truly gigantic one.
The Italian state represents the Italian people.
The Chinese state represents the Chinese people.
The Hungarian state represents the Hungarian people.
The Malaysian state represents the Malaysian people.
The Jewish state represents the Jewish people.
If you're an Italian, Chinese, Hungarian, Malaysian, or Jewish (or any other nationality), and you really hate what your country is doing - say, for example, genocide - it is your moral, human, and civic duty to make your objection heard loud and clear. If no serious internal opposition is registered, it means the collective approves of the steps and measures taken by their state on their collective behalf. It is not complicated.’
So yes, of course Jews have a collective responsibility for what the Jewish state has been committing on their behalf. And, as the opposition is virtually nonexistent, being extremely rare and unpopular in Jewish circles, it means the vast majority of Jews agree with what the Jewish state is doing, and will have to answer for it morally.
Via WSWS.org. 'The best way for the British working class to come to the defence of their Iranian and Palestinian brothers and sisters is to mount a systematic industrial and political offensive against the Starmer government and its co-conspirators in the trade union bureaucracy sabotaging their struggles as they back rearmament and war.
The demands must be raised: Hands off Iran! End the Gaza genocide! Arrest the war criminals in Tel Aviv, London, Washington, Paris and Berlin! Withdraw British military forces from the Middle East and use the billions wasted on military spending to provide humanitarian relief for the Palestinian people and to meet the vital needs of the working class for health and social care, public education and welfare.
There have been no Russian attacks on any nuclear installation in Ukraine. The nuclear reactor in Zaporozhye is under their control, they do not attack themselves. The drones that hit the Chernobyl reactor were another Ukrainian (or rather western) false flag attack. Why would Russia attack a decommissioned nuclear reactor, while sparing the active reactors Ukraine still has, because they do not want to create a nuclear disaster? Even though that means Ukraine has still the electricity to produce drones and continue the war in general?
It never ends these people telling me that Israel isn't Jewish, that Israel wasn't supported by 99 percent of Jews in the beginning, after the Exodus flick, and there on. Yeah, it's great to see that Zionism is a choice but Judaism isn't?
Fuck. So, Trump's grandkiddos and Biden's, the Jewish ones, they are, ethnic special Jews? And now, hate speech?
Oh, I bet the No Kings Day would not let my sign, Fuck Israel, into the mix. And, alas, recount your Jewishness, because it is a Jewish project in Occupied Palestine, and the Jews in the USA support the Jews in Palestine, and alas, Zionism IS TAUGHT by rabbi's and in rabbinical school, and in synagogues.
Telling me that I am engaging in HATE speech, as one of the commentators does, is exactly the Hate that Jewish Apologists use to silence.
Israel is Jewish state and zionist and is taught as the righteous place for ALL Jews.
For decades, American Jewish institutions have made it a priority to teach kids about Israel. Learning about the Jewish state is a key part of the curricula and programming at schools, camps, and community organizations around the country, with Israel often depicted as a miraculous entity locked in righteous battle with irrational Arab foes.
Given that the vast majority of American Jews never end up living, or even spending much time, in Israel, early and incomplete lessons can have a lasting effect on the political positions of the students who soak in them.
Rabbi Jill Jacobs was one such kid, although many of the lessons her instructors tried to instill in her didn’t quite take. She is the executive director of T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights, a group of social justice-minded Jewish clergy who, among other goals, seek better treatment for Palestinians.
As a member of Generation X, she grew up at a time when many Jewish educational establishments treated Palestinians either as nonexistent or — especially during the Palestinian uprising of the late ’80s, known as the First Intifada — as vicious anti-Semites. During her college years, Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization entered the so-called Oslo process, a series of agreements that seemed to bring peace and Palestinian self-determination tantalizingly close. The process was not to last, but Jacobs holds on to the dream of a Jewish state coexisting alongside a Palestinian neighbor-state.
