The only reason why the West (both the US + the UK) obsesses over violent regime changes is because it wants to destabilize Iran even further (keep in mind that the US, via the CIA deposed Mossadegh in 1952/1953 because he nationalized Iranian oil and that was a big no-no for the US, so they put the Shah in charge).

And of course, the West loves to back religious and military dictatorships because they're on "our side."

But the imperial boomerang always comes home to roost, doesn't it? the so-called "moral" west is locking up and disappearing people for peaceful protest and for speaking out against the genocide that's going on in Gaza.

It's hard to stay sane in these times.

This is all about access to oil and gas, period. With a helping of controlling a geographic choke point.

In my long ago youth, the US was the leading producer of fossil fuels. The foolish development of fracking technology is allowing our capitalists to take all of the relative little that is left from long gone days. Our capitalists want to take all from anywhere else.

I think that the notion of Israel controlling US foreign policy is incorrect. Israel is the leading recipient of US foreign aid and they reciprocate by committing atrocities on our behalf. Where indiscriminate mass murder gets committed, there is oil and gas beneath the bodies. Or at the very least, copious amounts of minerals our corporate overlords covet.

Our Dominion theology cheerleaders for Israeli aggression have miscalculated for this will be a battle of attrition as in Russia v. Ukraine and not the 7 day war of Israel's salad days. Both China and Russia have a lot at stake with Iran's existence. Iran is going to have far more capable and dependable allies for resupply than will Israel. A lot of what Israel will need is already smoldering in Ukraine.

So when wondering about moral suasion, the US is truly devoid. These shameful acts occurring at present like atrocities past can be attributed to a single source, the United States of America.

I agree. But AIPAC doesn't spend millions on candidates every year for nothing. The relationship is though undoubtedly symbiotic

I see AIPAC as driving a positive feedback loop for generating profit, profit, profit for the US war machine. It is Prosperity Gospel in action! The tithe that has bounteous returns -- until now.

Via WSWS.org. 'The best way for the British working class to come to the defence of their Iranian and Palestinian brothers and sisters is to mount a systematic industrial and political offensive against the Starmer government and its co-conspirators in the trade union bureaucracy sabotaging their struggles as they back rearmament and war.

The demands must be raised: Hands off Iran! End the Gaza genocide! Arrest the war criminals in Tel Aviv, London, Washington, Paris and Berlin! Withdraw British military forces from the Middle East and use the billions wasted on military spending to provide humanitarian relief for the Palestinian people and to meet the vital needs of the working class for health and social care, public education and welfare.

The enemy of British workers is not the Iranian people but the billionaire oligarchy plundering society’s wealth.’ https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/06/17/ipns-j17.html

There have been no Russian attacks on any nuclear installation in Ukraine. The nuclear reactor in Zaporozhye is under their control, they do not attack themselves. The drones that hit the Chernobyl reactor were another Ukrainian (or rather western) false flag attack. Why would Russia attack a decommissioned nuclear reactor, while sparing the active reactors Ukraine still has, because they do not want to create a nuclear disaster? Even though that means Ukraine has still the electricity to produce drones and continue the war in general?

It never ends these people telling me that Israel isn't Jewish, that Israel wasn't supported by 99 percent of Jews in the beginning, after the Exodus flick, and there on. Yeah, it's great to see that Zionism is a choice but Judaism isn't?

Fuck. So, Trump's grandkiddos and Biden's, the Jewish ones, they are, ethnic special Jews? And now, hate speech?

Oh, I bet the No Kings Day would not let my sign, Fuck Israel, into the mix. And, alas, recount your Jewishness, because it is a Jewish project in Occupied Palestine, and the Jews in the USA support the Jews in Palestine, and alas, Zionism IS TAUGHT by rabbi's and in rabbinical school, and in synagogues.

Telling me that I am engaging in HATE speech, as one of the commentators does, is exactly the Hate that Jewish Apologists use to silence.

Israel is Jewish state and zionist and is taught as the righteous place for ALL Jews.

For decades, American Jewish institutions have made it a priority to teach kids about Israel. Learning about the Jewish state is a key part of the curricula and programming at schools, camps, and community organizations around the country, with Israel often depicted as a miraculous entity locked in righteous battle with irrational Arab foes.

Given that the vast majority of American Jews never end up living, or even spending much time, in Israel, early and incomplete lessons can have a lasting effect on the political positions of the students who soak in them.

Rabbi Jill Jacobs was one such kid, although many of the lessons her instructors tried to instill in her didn’t quite take. She is the executive director of T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights, a group of social justice-minded Jewish clergy who, among other goals, seek better treatment for Palestinians.

As a member of Generation X, she grew up at a time when many Jewish educational establishments treated Palestinians either as nonexistent or — especially during the Palestinian uprising of the late ’80s, known as the First Intifada — as vicious anti-Semites. During her college years, Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization entered the so-called Oslo process, a series of agreements that seemed to bring peace and Palestinian self-determination tantalizingly close. The process was not to last, but Jacobs holds on to the dream of a Jewish state coexisting alongside a Palestinian neighbor-state.

Jewish people existed long before Israel. You have just bought into Israel’s own propaganda that it represents all Jewish people as a monolith.

By representing all Jews and committing atrocities, they get to play the perpetual victim when people turn on Jewish people.

You think you’re fighting Israel, but you’re helping

Don’t conflate Jews with Israel and Zionists. Zionism isa choice, not an ethnicity. Your comment as written is hate speech, which helps Israel to call itself the victim.

Weaponizing antisemitism would be if I defended Israel by calling you racist. I’m not defending Israel.

What I am doing is a “call in” to separate your hatred for the actions of Israel from “the majority” of Jewish people.

Racism is similar to bad parenting. A bad parent will say that the child is bad. A good parent will say that the behavior is bad.

Racism is saying that behavior is in the blood. That it’s not a learned behavior or choice.

The fact is that Many Jewish people learned this supremacist behavior from what was done to them. Victor Frankle in his book “Man’s Search for Meaning.” was concerned that through trauma, Jewish people could become hateful and perpetuate violence. He was right.

It’s very similar to how a boy can grow up seeing his father beat his mother all the time hating his father. But then he can repeat the same behavior when he grows up.

It’s not an excuse for Jewish people who perpetuate violence, but it is an understanding that violence is often infectious and learned. It has nothing to do with ethnicity or race.
