Lone Soldiers And Dual Nationals: How Genocide Was Globalised

Western politicians and commentators have begun gleefully using the Bondi beach attack as a cudgel to beat anti-genocide protestors, dehumanise Palestinians and shore up support for genocide.

In particular, these politicians and commentators have singled out the phrase ‘globalise the intifada’ as incitement to terrorism. This is a phrase that has been used for years to demonstrate solidarity with Palestinians and against their apartheid state oppressors.

But now, desperate to weaponise the attack to smear opposition to Israel, the western media and political class say this phrase encouraged the Bondi attack. From the New York Times to the Times of Israel to The Times of London, from New York mayor Eric Adams to the UK’s health secretary Wes Streeting, the Bondi killers were, they say, acting on the injunction to ‘globalise the intifada.’ Caitlin Johnstone has pulled together a definitive list of all the times the phrase has been blamed for the attack in the past five days.

Globalise the intifada, apparently, is code for ‘kill Jews everywhere.’ (Intifada actually just means uprising, but let’s not get distracted by facts.)

In the UK, police have said anyone using the phrase will be arrested, and indeed have begun, arresting people for saying it. After banning the activist group Palestine Action as a terror organisation earlier this year and arresting anyone who uses ‘Palestine’ and ‘Action’ in the same sentence, British authorities have criminalised more words to protect Zionist feelings.

The thing is, it’s all projection.

The only violence that has been globalised is Zionist violence.

The only people who get legal protections to travel from all corners of the world, pick up a gun and kill civilians, are Zionist Jews.

As far as incitement to violence goes, the phrase we should be talking about is ‘Israel has the right to defend itself.’

This is the phrase that has got more innocents killed than ‘globalise the intifada’ ever will.

This is the phrase that has globalised terror.

I say this because tens of thousands of Jews from more than 70 countries around the world have enlisted in the IDF to kill Palestinians.

The US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Brazil, Russia, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Switzerland, Brazil, Sweden, Colombia, Argentina, India.

These are just a selection of countries from where both Jewish dual nationals, and Jews who want to kill for Israel, have come from to participate in the genocide of Gaza.

Zionists have truly globalised a genocide.

Jews from anywhere in the world can enlist in the IDF, pick up a gun, and go and kill.

Under the Garin Tzabar and Mahal programmes, Jews who want to fight for Israel don’t even need to hold dual nationality. They just have to be Jews with a desire to kill. Specifically designed for foreign residents without any family in Israel, these programmes recruit thousands of Jews from around the world for the express purpose of serving in the IDF. These Jews are then romanticised by Israel as ‘Lone Soldiers.’ These so-called Lone Soldiers have dedicated social media accounts, websites and regular uplifting stories printed about them in western and Jewish media. Synagogues across the west, like this one in New York, urge their congregations to support Lone Soldiers.

Then there are the dual nationals, citizens of both Israel and other western countries, called up to the IDF as reservists. Thousands of joint nationals who don’t live in Israel have flocked to Gaza over the last two years to participate in genocide. The numbers are patchy, as few countries keep track. But what we know is astonishing. More than 23,000 Americans are currently serving in the IDF alongside more than 4,000 French citizens and perhaps one thousand Australians. A parliamentary question revealed there are around 80 Lone Soldier Brits (including the son of a British politician and Lord I tracked down earlier this year) in the Israeli military. Dozens of Canadians have been identified as IDF soldiers.

Despite laws in most countries prohibiting one country’s citizens from serving in a foreign army, special rules and exemptions for Jews mean not one dual national or Lone Soldier has yet been prosecuted. This is despite 40 independent experts, including an expert UN panel, urging countries to do more to prevent their citizens fighting for the IDF. This is despite them serving in a military that has killed American and British citizens.

These killers then get to come back to their countries of residence and freely walk our streets, while those who oppose them simply with words and banners get arrested. The absurdity and depravity of it all should take your breath away.

If the last two years haven’t opened your eyes, or opened them further, to the moral squalor of imperialism, to the hypocrisies and disqualifying double-standards paraded by western liberalism, nothing will.

The Bondi attack has also spurred an outbreak of hysterical nonsense about the danger Jews are in. The empirical evidence shows that the chance of a Jewish person dying in an antisemitic attack is statistically negligible. Coconut-falling-on-the-head negligible. Since 1958, and including the Bondi attack, around 170 Jews have been killed in antisemitic attacks. This was reported last year by an Israeli academic in Israeli media.

Yet this statistical hyper-rarity, apparently, justifies the mass arrest of peaceful protestors, the crushing of speech and special rules for Jewish killers. It justifies a genocide.

The chance of dying in Israel at the hands of an armed resistance group is, of course, higher. This is precisely because violence against Jews isn’t globalised. It is confined to the place where Jews operate a colonial apartheid state that has destroyed the means of life for two million Palestinians while murdering somewhere between 70,000 and 300,000 people, half of them children. Murdered by an infrastructure of military terror that is truly globalised.

The narrative inversion we have seen since the Bondi attack is disgraceful. Mainstream media coverage has been full of omissions, the mangling of context and the regurgitating of Zionist propaganda.

I’ve been motivated to correct these narrative inversions because of the real and material damage they do to our understanding of events, our prospects for justice, and to our humanity.
