When I helped establish marriage quality for same-sex couples starting in 2004, we never guessed that the gay community would so immediately embrace the right wing.
There’s more to this saga that meets the eye, which I hope someone has the independence to publicly observe. The defection of the gay community from the Left played a key role in the emergence of overt fascism over the past decade.

The worst part is it has utterly destroyed the left, there are still people pushing trans stuff even though it is a losing issue that very few support.

Excellent article - thank you! Your central point has needed broadcasting to the Left for decades! The Left took its eye off the ball decades ago - requiring the hard work of economic and legislative transformation - and glued its eye to an easier goal of individual and group identity. Now that the economy has been taken over by fascists of all identities - perhaps the Left will stop “bringing a soup ladle to a knife fight”.
Human rights for all requires economic justice. Identity politics often divided people rather than uniting all for economic justice AND human rights for all.
